A hot Sicilian May

It is no secret that we are always touring through Italy on the hunt for native grape varieties. At the end of May we have come to Sicily, land of Malavoglia and Gattopardo. And as always there were many guests at the local festivals. Playing the lead role, of course, were our grappas. The first event was May 24th in Palermo with "Cigar in grappa": an evening dedicated to cigars, grappa and coffee. We were called in to explain how to appreciate and taste the grappa. Then we moved on to Termini Imerese to celebrate the opening of the new restaurant, Mood, belonging to Natale Giunta, chef from the "La Prova del cuoco (The Cook Test)" television program. During the evening there were tastings of typical Sicilian cheeses and grappa. A true Sicily - Veneto challenge. In tribute to the hospitality of Natale we have left a copy of the story dedicated by Mario Rigoni Stern. The voyage then continued to Torre Faro, on the Strait of Messina, for an evening at the local "Office of Taste". Once again our grappa stole the show, accompanied by Sicilian cheeses and cigars.
Sicily never ceases to amaze.
