In the reign of the Cognac and the Armagnac

Some days off in the south of Paris in the territories of Cognac and Armagnac. Enchanting places filled with the scent of history, nature and distillation. An excellent destination to know and taste the products of these areas.

The Cognac, which is mainly produced in the department of Charente, is probably the best known distillate in the world. The Armagnac, which is produced in a region further south, is less known, even if it is a close relative of cognac.
We visited some wine companies, among which the distillery Pinard in Cognac, where we tasted the outcome of their labour, i.e. the distillates made exclusively from their own products and biological wines. Then we visited the distillery Delord in Armagnac. Gaston Delord, one of the owners, has told us the long story of his family, full of passion and tradition. He let us taste his distillates, mainly the aged ones.
The time went by and the holidays were soon over. Yet they have nourished our passion for the continual research of new vines.
