How to love Grappa

Grappa offers a world full of enveloping aromas and flavours, extraordinary sensations to those who know how to appreciate and comprehend it in its most profound essence.

The tasting requires a few simple preparations in order to fully appreciate every subtlety.

The glass is a fundamental element in order to serve wine properly and discern the aromas. It must be of open tulip-shaped design and made of thin glass

The visual exam is done specifically to assess the clarity and purity of the Grappa. There should be no visible particles in the liquid, which must be perfectly transparent and shining.

The olfactory stage is the most important. With a bit of patience one can easily learn to recognize and assess the fineness and quantity of the Grappa fragrances. For an attentive olfactory analysis, it is essential to hold the glass at the correct distance in order to correctly reveal the bouquet, then to make brief but frequent smells so as to elicit new impressions.

The tasting stage is the magical moment. Grappa is tasted in tiny sips and, once in the mouth, diluted with the saliva and calmly pressed against the palate by the tongue to allow for the aromas to be released.

The stage evaluating the “finish” certainly requires greater concentration and continued training, but it also offers great satisfaction. When tasting grappa, the greatest pleasure of all is the aftertaste left on the palate.
