Mosaic of history and nature, art and cuisine
Vincenza is a treasured medieval city, capital of Veneto province, founded on the northern hillsides of the Berici hills along the banks of the river Bacchiglione. A World Heritage Site, it is noted as the “Palladian City", for the treasures that the renowned architect lavished there. Villas, palaces, plazas: it contains innumerable architectural jewels, true open air museums that enrich Vicenza. The heart of the city is the Piazza dei Signori, overlooked by the Basilica Palladiana, next to the Teatro Olimpico commissioned by the Accademia Olimpica. Just outside the centre is the Rotunda, the pinnacle of Palladio´s art, and Villa Valmarana ai Nani, where the frescoes of Tiepolo can be admired. The region breathes history, life and culture among the industrious villages; but Vicenza is more than just Palladio. It is also nature, with its enchanting rises, and gourmet tradition, with typical dishes passed down from generation to generation.
