Our two new offers French oak barrels. They are called “La Scura” and “La Scura Riserva”. For us, the grappa aged in wood represents a return to the past. On our part, grappa has always been preserved in barrels to let it rest, and to refine it with the features acquired from the wood varieties. Even today, aged grappas are in particularly high demand in the market. Our approach was to make a product that does not stray from tradition.
“La Scura” is a grappa obtained by distilling fermented grape pomace in red berry. It rests for a short period in inert containers before aging for twelve months in oak barrels. It has a straw-yellow colour and a fairly intense scent with subtle hints of vanilla, yeast and honey. On the palate, it is round, full-bodied but not aggressive, with good personality It has an alcohol content of 41% “La Scura Riserva", also produced by distilling red berry pomace, is aged for more than thirty months in Allier oak barrels, always remaining under status control. With an intense straw-yellow colour, this grappa has intense aroma, in a perfect taste-olfactory correspondence, with sweet and light vanilla-flavoured finish. Several spiced scents can be identified: coriander, cinnamon, with reminiscences of liquorice, chestnut honey and tobacco, and a light, pleasant sensation of damp hay and leather. On the palate, it is warm and pronounced, enveloping; it reaffirms the aroma of good wood, roasting and cinnamon that makes it fragrant and articulate. It nicely accompanies Tuscany cigars and dark chocolate. The alcohol content is 43%
Our aim? 5000 bottles per year.
