GRAPPA ORO 1840 – Aged

Grappa oro 1840

This Aged Grappa is made from a special blend of red grape pomaces originating from the Berico and Euganean Hills (Veneto region).

It is distilled according to a traditional method and is aged in Allier oak barrels for over 12 months. It is neither too full-bodied nor too soft. It is round and warm to the palate, with notes of spices and long persistence.

It pairs very well with 70% dark chocolate, with cheese aged over 18 months or with a nice cigar.

Ingredients

This Aged Grappa is made from a special blend of red grape pomaces originating from the Berico and Euganean Hills (Veneto region).

Traditional method distillery

FRATELLI BRUNELLO’s distillery, has used since the beginning a few discontinuous stills that are still in operation. It provides low-pressure direct steam at low temperatures. It consists of 4 copper heating boilers, just like the traditional system.

The distillation cycle is very slow and involves the processing of small batches of pomace. Each distillation cycle lasts one hour to one hour and a half.

Maturation and aging
After distillation, the grappa is stored in inert stainless steel tanks for at least two years. Subsequently, it is transferred to our sealed warehouse, where it ages inside 350-liter Allier oak barrels, either new or reused, for over 12 months. It is during this time that the alchemy of the slow and gradual transfer of color, aromas and wood toasting takes place to the grappa.

Tasting
Grappa ORO 1840 offers an intriguing and engaging balance of smell and taste. With visible golden highlights, this grappa is round, warm, yet not aggressive, to the palate. It offers pleasant notes of spices, cocoa and tobacco. It is rich and fragrant. It has all the typical characteristics of an artisan grappa with a modern taste. This is a great example of balance of primary and tertiary aromas, being the result of the expert aging in wood barrels.

Serving and pairing
It should be served between 12° and 15° C in a small tulip-shaped glass. Excellent when paired with 70% dark chocolate, with cheese aged over 18 months either on its own or served with red berry jam – or with a nice cigar. Surprisingly good when served with a creamy chocolate dessert or if combined with a handmade cigar.
